Hi all, am new to this forum! I'm hoping for some advice re suitable perennials for a bed in front of our house. This is brick built, and therefore raised, under the front window, about 8 ft by 2'6" with a depth of about 2'6". The front of our house is north facing, and the bed is further shaded by a magnolia and a cherry tree in the front garden. The bed does drain, but I am not sure what type of soil it is. I can say that we planted lavender there last year - we now realise that this is not the ideal situation for lavender as not sunny/gravelly/welldrained/dry but the plants did not die (they just look sad) - does that help with what soil it might be? An evergreen suggestion would be great - could we have flowers as well? And would we be able to transplant the lavender successfully? If so, do we prune as well? Thanks loads for any advice.
